Coastguard Training on CK Rescue
Coastguard Hawkes Bay’s boat crew has been undertaking extensive training on Celia Knowles Rescue since she was launched in 2010. The new vessel was specifically designed for search and rescue in Hawke's Bay waters and has many new features.
An example of this is the specific work stations that all boat crew are trained to use and senior crew specialise in. The photo above is one example of this - Helming the vessel involves being highly skilled at driving the Hamiltonjet powered boat and using blue arrow electronice control system.
Below is the communication system. CK Rescue monitors and is in contact with all Search and Rescue partners during emergency operations and sharing information with the Police and Operational control team is vital to ensure a successful outcome.
